I dumped some feed out for trail cam purposes near a stand I have on our property. Ive had the camera out for about 3 weeks. I go back to check it and there is nothing on the camera. Not a squirrel, coyote, deer, raccoon, etc. I mean nothing. When I say nothing I dont mean there were a bunch of pictures of nothingI mean there were no pictures except the ones it took of me walking up to check the cam. Not even pictures of me where I set it up and walked in front of it. I even took it off the tree and set it up at home and it took every picture of me walking by it. It is inconceivable to me that there would be no pictures when a few yards from the camera there is a hole where the deer tore up what I had put out.

To me there is no question there has been some pics deleted by someone who didnt want me to see what is coming through there (long story). The question is, how do I catch them doing it so I can take the appropriate action? Ive considered setting up a second cam nearby and making sure its hidden. What do yall suggest?

Use two or three cams at diffent heights. Hide the extra cam(s) well.

Use a climber to put a camera out of reach and out of their sight as well.

^^ What Outback said. Get a second or third camera and put them away from the main site, higher up and well hidden but where it will take photos or video of the main camera they're visiting to delete your stuff.

I have a game warden friend who catches poachers with his cameras. He'll set up one in plain view, then two more watching the trail at 8 to 10 feet above the ground in separate trees. The astonished look on the poachers face is hilarious! They'll lie with supreme confidence, knowing they deleted the evidence, then he'll show them the other pictures. It's priceless!

Thanks guys. Ive let this fester for a few days now so Im out for justice. There is a good cedar tree all greened up about 10 yards from the camera tree. I can climb it and hide in those leaves.

Good friend of mine does the same. I look up when I'm walking so I saw it about 12-13 feet up, angled down a trail. I waved and then texted him. He said he catches numerous trespassers with it and the photo evidence is incredibly helpful.

No. I haven't changed any settings and it got plenty of pics last year and this year before I moved the cam to that spot.

I have a Moultrie that is prone to not taking any pictures even when the settings are right. Guess it's just some bug in their software.

More people are starting to look higher for cameras. You could try placing one on the ground with it surrounded by rocks and other natural debris to get a different angle.

I use a 6 foot fiberglass stepladder to set mine high.

I have zero experience with them. The first cam I had was a Browning and I have just always used them. This is a Strike Force. Like I said, it took pics fine before I moved it to this tree.

I keep an old broken trail cam as my bait camera.
