Had a disagreement with a guy earlier regarding this topic. It all started with the old people and minorities I want killed off with the budget cuts to Meals on Wheels. I mentioned Hunters for the Hungry not really needing government to be successful. He said if I were a real Christian I would want to help poor people and that I should read my Bible. He then said after the EPA is left high and dry that I wouldn�t have anywhere to hunt and wouldn�t be able to donate to Hunters for the Hungry. And that all the rivers will look like the White House fountain after Trump is done with the EPA. I said �because there will be no one around to stop Trump from pouring green dye in the rivers?� It went downhill from there. I really had him fired up. I�m sure he probably threw his hipster fedora across the room.

This was just me trolling twitter. I hate that I love it so much, but I get on there and do this about every day. It usually starts at lunch and goes on. They are usually about the feels so it doesn�t take long to get them tied up like a pretzel. I�m sure if he were in person he would be shouting at me. Anyway, this is the first time I�ve actually been told by someone that my ability to hunt would be affected by the EPA cuts. I completely disagree with it, as it�s just hysterics. But, it did get me thinking. There are a lot of things us sportsman do ourselves like Hunters for the Hungry or NWTF. We don�t ask the federal government for help and don�t want it. Can any of you see any evidence this will require us to pick up the slack somewhere else that would be left short by EPA cuts? I don�t, but this isn�t a trick question. I�m honestly curious if y�all can think of any place.


Update: I read my Bible. Didn't find government mandated charitable giving. I did see where Paul said not to give grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. I probably need to go tell the guy I argued with...boy is he going to be mad he was wrong.

Yes. And I feel like the church does a pretty good job. We apparently have people like this guy conditioned to think we need to government to help. That there are just some things we can't handle.

Yes, and there was a NY times Op-Ed using a fictitious conversation between Paul Ryan and Jesus, slamming Paul as not upholding his Christian values. As if wanting smaller government is morally equivalent to making people starve or die of cancer.

That's the game they play, and they've played it well. People who like government control like to bring it down to an issue of morality. It has nothing to do with morality. There is nothing immoral about people freely giving to the poor. I saw that Op-Ed. It's laughable man.

If we could take the money the government for welfare and support systems, just think of what the church could do with that money. I truly believe we would see an incredible impact to our country if people were helped, but also trained and shown Biblical values to accompany.
