Does anyone have a preference hunting NE vs SE Kansas? May try to hit a spot on the way to Nebraska the last week of April. Not lookin for anyone's spot just asking if there's a better population in one or the other. Also, would these areas hold eastern or rios? Thanks

Eastern and hybrids, though you can't tell some of the hybrids from rios

Kill these two in northeast Kansas last year. Both of them in one shot. You can tell the difference in the hybrid and the Eastern.

The further west you go, the easier the hunting will get. We had a very tough time in eastern Kansas, finding birds on public land. The only one I found in 4 days, I killed. That was also towards the end of the season.

Not anymore! Since they opened up the Northwest zone to 2 birds it changed things! Places where we used to just massacre birds have been opened up and received heavy pressure the last 4 years.

The turkey population wasn't as high the further west you went in Kansas but until they opened it up to 2 birds it never got pressured. The last 2 years we were there it was just as tough as hunting easterns with the exception of being able to see them when they ran from calls. Lol!

Thanks, I found the sheds about 30 mins after I killed the two gobs. My brother still had one tag to fill so we were walking and calling and I got on a deer trail and they were laying side by side in the middle of the trail. I scored them at 139 3/8
