Got a tournment at Wheeler March 25th. It is a BFL. Never fished one before going as a co-angler with my buddy that fishes BFL's all the time. Never been to wheeler how is the fishing up there, I like to throw a buzzbait and spinnerbait alot is that any good up there?

They have a 12in limit on bass..from what I have seen its loaded with smaller fish....with the occasional 4-5 pounder..spinnerbait maybe pretty good,but I'm leaning more towards a finese approach..ie trick worm or small jig.....you catch 7-8lbs you will be in the money..good luck and see you there.

If you get a chance to practice, I'd start by heading to the bushes in the back of Swan or Beulah Bay and pitch to the bushes. Jigs, craws, floating worm.
Get a good map.
Below the railroad tracks (downriver) is the major area most folks fish, covered in stump rows. You can lose a lower unit in here so don't run across it. A channel hugs the riprap by the railroad tracks and then winds around the backside of the stumps.
The stump flats can be very good, though, and probably will be where most of your guys are fishing. Pitching, spinnerbaits, jigs. Just be careful in there.
