I'm looking at getting a grinder and a vacuum sealer. What do y'all use or what would you recommend?

I use a lem #12 and it's great. It will grind as fast as you can pack it in there. I also have the cubing attachment. It's the most bang for your buck. I don't have a vacuum sealer but I just use wax freezer paper.

I have used a LEM #8 and FoodSaver for about five years now. Processed about five deer, one elk and two hogs. The #8 is good if your working in less than 20# batches, in my opinion. Have had zero issues with it.
I have an older vertical model foodsaver that has been fine as well. Definately got my moneys worth.
Now, all that said, if I did it again I would go with a Weston sealer as I think it is way more functional than the Foodsaver.
Also, if you like sausage and want to make your own, get a vertical stuffer, but make sure it is more than 5#. I have a 5# and cant get a full batch in there.

Don't skimp on a grinder. I've got a small grind and it works ok, but when it burns up, I'll replace it with a better model.
As far as wrapping it, Saran Wrap topped with freezer paper is hard to beat and pretty cheap.
Get you a small flexible knife also. I use a 4" Gerber fillet knife for 90% of my deer processing.

food saver for sealing and just go ahead and get the grinder/sausage maker attachment for the Kitchen Aid. I've heard that the Kitchen Aid attachment burns out really easily. I know nothing about this stuff, but I looked into getting one. My wife wants to try to do our own, and that seems like the easiest/cheapest option.

I'm looking at getting a grinder and a vacuum sealer. What do y'all use or what would you recommend? I use a higher end Foodsaver vacuum sealer and a cheap grinder (game country or something like that) I bought at Walmart 7-8 years ago. Grinder still works so I haven't replaced it. Has all the accessories to stuff casings to make sausage and different plates for grinding meat. Once it breaks, I'll be looking at LEM and Cabelas grinders. You can't go wrong with LEM or Cabelas sausage or jerky spice kits. LEM has kits to make your own ham too.

I use a Hobart grinder with a stuffing attachment. Lem mixer for sausage. And have an ancient cuber. I bought a silver food saver seems to work better that the standard ones and can double seal. We make a lot of link sausage and brats.

I have a 3/4 Cabelas commercial. It is great. Cheap grinders almost turned me off to doing it myself.

Plus my wife makes fancy cakes as a hobby, and if her mixer broke......the world would end. A grinder is a mans tool....mixers are for wimmens.
