Congratulations! That has to be the biggest public land buck ever taken is Alabama.
I would bet you will be getting calls from magazines. Congrats on a STUD! I don't think it's the biggest to come out of Bankhead, but I could be wrong.

You left out the part about me teaching you everything you know about deer hunting. Just kidding. Congrats man! That is an amazing buck!

Willie Martin "The Bankhead Forest Monster" taken Nov.1973. Net typical 180 7/8 (gross 203) net non-typical 207 (gross 212 4/8). For years was # 3 typ, overall and biggest public land buck, may still be. Mainframe 6x5, the missing matching tine keeps it from netting close to 200 typ. It has 4 tines over 12" and both beams are 27" plus. Willie , before his death lived on "Skyline Mountain". I've seen this buck several times. Most recently last year my son and I went to see it. Even though I had seen it a couple of times before, it was still jaw dropping. My description doesn't do justice nor does pictures.

"Why do you ask"?

You sir have my respect. I walked miles of that forest for over ten years hoping on that opportunity but you sealed the deal. Congrats and high fives!

I know of at least three bigger than this one that have all come from Bankhead. One of which 2dogs already covered. There has been a mid 230's killed with a bow and a 211 killed with a rifle. Not to mention a truck load of 160-180 deer. All public land from the same place.
