I beleive you can go scout but must have the WMA Map/Permit in your possession.

Not for scouting! Only hunting!

I believe in order to step foot on a WMA you have to have a signed map permit.

It won't hurt a thing. But I know you don't at Black Warrior WMA or else there would be a lot of folks getting tickets riding horses or just hiking. It is a hunting permit. Doesn't have a thing to do with enjoying mother nature!

It took me a few years to figure it out. Don't hunt a place because it looks good. Go get in the thickest most god awful briar patch you can find and you'll kill deer

I want to come down and hunt with you Beadle. Is around Christmas the best hunting? You kill em from a tree or on the ground?

I hunt from the ground mostly. Last year the time to be in the woods was opening day till right around the first week of December. I shot a doe opening day of bow season missed one the next day and shot another the following day. I killed a 6 point the day before thanksgiving 8 the next then a bigger 8 the first few days of December. I ended shooting another doe with a rifle during doe days in the national forest that i gave to my dad. It was a good year for me down there.

I'll be sure to put some boots on the ground next week. My stand was recently stolen so i need to get a new one before i can hunt again. How would i get a signed map. As long as i am unarmed, i should be good to go correct?

I think Beadle has given us the Oakmulgee formula. Get on the ground in the thick. Pop a good un.

Academy Wal-Mart or woods and water should have a map. They are free you just need to sign and date it. Hunting a Greenfield is a waste of time for the most part. They'll be tore up with deer sign but I believe they mostly hit them at night.

I won't be any where near highway 50. In Georgia i hunt pines and oak flats more than anything.
