I need about 10' of 18/2 preferably marine grade but anything that will work underneath an ATV (wiring a light bar, water immersion is the issue). I need it in a dark color, preferably black.

Sounds easy to find, no? Well I've been to several places and can't find it ... Lowes/HD don't have it, Mayer Electric will sell me a 1000' roll, other electrical suppliers I've been too all wanna sell 1000' at a time ... I did get 10' of 14/2 from HD but it's too thick ... I'd prefer 18/2

Sigh ...

I found this and it would be perfect but it's white insulation won't do :

Any ideas, I'm stumped ...

I'm not sure why you cant just use 2 conductor lamp wire. It won't hurt it to get wet for a while. Its not like it will be submerged for weeks. I've got a spool of Red/Black that I use when I wire them up in vehicles. I'll give you 12 ft..

Look for a 16 or 18/2 SJ or SO cord. Not really recessary. I'd run just automotive grade wire inside of a split loom.

wrap it in the link and zip tie. I just used regular 16 ga balck and red wire from harbor freight or autozone.

I want to make it as professional looking and as durable as possible. Parts of the cable are going to be exposed before I tuck it underneath the fender well. In the pic below, that cable is only 10" long. I'm wanting to find the spec'd cable above, open up the lamp, remove the existing cable, and add the new cable. Splicing onto the existing cable may be ok but I've also got to splice on a 10 amp inline fuse ... then splice onto the high beam. If I do it the way I'm planning it will look clean and will minimize letting any water in ...

Try Maysville feed and grain. Haven't been in there in a few years, but they did care several different sizes of wire. They should be in the phone book.

How about a black 10 ft outdoor extension cord, cut splice/solder heat shrink individually, a squirt of silicone and then larger exterior hear shrink over it. Should be clean and durable. I done this when I installed a similar light on the bimini top of my boat came out very clean and the over molded extension cord is more durable than anything else you are going to find in small quantities reasonably priced.

You can buy short lengths, or cut to length, off ebay.

Why can't you use sprinkler wire?

I'd do like Shotts said - butt splice it and then cover it with heat shrink. No problems with that solution.

I've got a crap ton of 18/2 tray cable I've taken in scrap. I'm gonna wire the lights on my houseboat with it. You want some? Prob got 100ft and can get more.

Thanks Brock but a neighbor gave me 10' last night. This worked out really nice, I spliced it and used heat shrink tubing to protect the splice. It looks fairly professional and I'm confident it will be durable
