I had some bad year before last that killed a lot of grass. I tilled the same area for a garden last year and didn't have any problems. It's OK as long as there's not a lot per sq ft. I still picked up a lot just to be on the safe side.

Looks like Japanese beetle grub. Not sure though. Doesn't matter kill it. Can't think of any good beetles to have in yard or garden.
