I've heard about before but I found an article on it the other day and thought it was pretty neat http://virginiahuntingblog.blogspot.com/2015/04/turkey-jewels.html?m=1This is the little pile of rocks I got from a 2 year old gobbler the other day. It only takes about 2 minutes to get them. Just grab the gizzard out and cut it open and swish it around in a mixing bowl a few times. So far two turkeys has filled up the bottom of a quart Mason jar. I hope I get to kill a couple of older birds that stay around the creek a lot and get some pretty polished creek rocks out of them.

I have never heard of this however that is pretty cool. You just need an old mason jar to put it in.

I've never cared to save them. What are you gonna do with them? Hopefully fill up a bunch of mason jars with them and tell my great grandkids I used to kill an assload of turkeys before I got old and feeble.

Heck, why not. I sometimes cut them open to see what is in there and check the rocks out.

That better than having to add a sinker weight to a fish to tip the scales. Just throw in a couple of rocks. In all my years of turkey hunting I have just learned something new. Never get to old to be educated.

You taught me something; never even thought of getting the rocks out of his gizzard. I'll try it if I ever kill another one. It's possible that only Jackson CO turkeys eat rocks.
