Congrats stikman! Headed to Barbour County today. The land I'm hunting with a friend has a ton of turkeys, and lots of big fields, but hopefully we don't have to deal with pasture birds. I'm feeling pretty confident, but I'm not first on the trigger unless he says first one with a shot can kill it. Gonna go scout fields this afternoon if it's raining and try to locate some birds, then maybe roost one for in the morning. Weather is looking prime this weekend.

That's tough. Sounds like one of those deals where you back out and go back in at 10 or just nap until then if you have good cover.

congrats Stikman and Jonlee on the birds. Finally caught up to one of the two that's been playing hard to get this morning, unfortunately it wasn't me that got to pull the trigger. But I am glad my plan worked out. Now if only the other bird will cooperate.

Not so great. Had some sinus issues and a wedding to attend so needless to say I wasn't on my game nor could I put in the time I wanted. On top of that the birds didn't gobble enough. I think I managed to call one up Sunday morning but never saw him only heard him drum one time.

Thought I was setup good Saturday morning. I was in the middle of at least 5 birds, all in different directions but none of them wanted to cooperate before I had to leave. And of course it was a Saturday I couldn't stick with them.

It's been a good year as far as calling up birds. I've called in 14 and watched 8 of them die! Still haven't been able to get my son to close the deal on one but he has had several chances. I'll be taking the wife in the morning to hunt a bird that has been visiting a friends clover field every morning with a group of hens. I'll see if a few hen dekes and a few jake dekes will get him in range and away from his hens.
He's a good bird and worthy of getting mounted with at least 1.25 spurs. I've watched him a few afternoons with the spotting scope so it's going to cost me some cash if she shoots it!!!
