Hatchet is about the size of the rest of lake mitchell and has a lot to fish. Depending on water temp. There may be spawning fish in play at that time as well. Fish will be shallow you will just have to figure out if they are in creeks, main river or pockets. Pocket above the launch and pockets below Hatchett should be good then too.

We used to fish a tourney their that they always had the weekend of Mark tourney on Lay. That time if year if they were moving up we would always catch a couple good spots in Cargill creek around sea walls and boat docks.

Should be up shallow. I would start out next to Higgins Ferry, upriver on the left, there are some shallow flats. You may be able to get a few good ones to start the day with a jerkbait - plus I would guarantee you'll be one of the first ones with a line wet. Also, I have had success in the mouth of Walnut that time of year. I would be willing to bet you'll find some still pre-spawn and some still on bed. Good luck!

Mitchell is my favorite lake to fish on the Coosa chain.
