There's some of the opinion better to not insulate crawl space this far South. Where's the coolest place in Summer, under your house. Where is the warmest place in winter, under your house.

Mine is insulated r-19, not sure if it's unfaced, facing is to the inside it is on it

Don't do it. It's a moisture/mold nightmare. I sold a house last spring that had insulation between the floor joists and had to remove it per the home inspector. Not a fun job.

PRB - does that also apply if you have a basement. I am getting ready to finish part of may basement for an office and had planned to insulate the upstairs floor for noise.

Boondog, I think you'd be fine as long as you heat and cool the basement same as house above.

Yea don't do it for reasons stated above. I've been in a lot of crawl spaces and the nastiest ones I've seen have insulation in them.

I recommend sealing off the vents under the house and installing a dehumidifier under the house. Makes a world of difference.

Vapor barrier and plenty of vents mines been good for 19 years, got to have air movement Its better to have it sealed. Air movement is the bad thing. Cool air coming through from your house into the crawlspace into warmer air, and it creates the humidity which in turn creates moisture which is why the insulation gets wet. Then that's when it turns into a mold nightmare. Incapsulating the crawlspace is the best way to go.

Vapor barrier and lights throughout the crawl space just to keep it a little warm on those cold winter nights and help with any repairs
