Do you guys that hunt private property leave your stands out year round? I hunt mostly out of loc ons, and was contemplating leaving the stick ladders out, but taking the stand down during the off season. Whats your opinion?

I take loc ons and climbers down. Less wear and tear on them and definitely increases their useful life. Weather and critters can take a toll on tree stands.

I have always left my loc-ons in place. Sometimes I removed steps or rails. Sometimes a master lock on the chain. I have had two stands, in adjoining trees, stolen. Nothing quite as bad a walking to your stand tree and no stand. The thieves paid dearly for those two old loc-ons.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

They will grow into the tree. I've left screw in steps out and in a year or two they couldn't be removed. I left ladders and squirrels ate the ratchet straps. I.d never leave a climber out. Its bad on seat or someone might steal it.

I take most of my stands down every year. From time to time I may leave the stand frame out depending where it is. One of my leases in other states for example. I always bring the cushions out though.
I would rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6.

I Hang ons usually stay out. One climber stays locked to a tree for a few weeks at a time the other always comes home. The ladder stands come come about once a year for inspections and new straps.

Well, I leave my screw-in steps on the trees (and just back 'em out a turn or two) but yes, I take my stands down. Mainly 'cause they're made of steel & they rust out if you leave 'em out in the woods. I've got a ladder on a tree I left out last year, but I'll probably go after season & get it out of the woods.

I take my climbers off the property when the season is over. I don't frequent the property nearly as much so I can't monitor things as well. I have had a rare, unknown truck or two drive through the property so I can never completely put my mind at ease.

My ladder stands and lock on stay in the woods until they age to the point of not being safe. They are o cheap nowadays I don't see the point in removing them. I check and replace straps each year.

I take climbers out after season ends. Double ladders I will unhook and lay on the ground under the tree I had in. I take all screens, seats and pads.
I do this so that the tree does not grow into the stand. I also never use cloth ratchet straps. I only use chains and a piece of threaded rod to tighten the stand to the tree.
I love my country, but don't trust my government.

We take ours down after season and put back up next year for various reasons... Mostly all loc ons and climbing sticks

I leave all of mine up (loc ons, ladders and tripods), just loosen straps. I check everything in the fall and replace any need strap.

we leave our stick ladders up, but only leave the top and bottom loosely tied to the tree. This keeps our straps out of the elements during the off season. When season rolls around, we put our straps back on the ladders.

It depends on the stand. If a stand is productive year to year I usually just loosen the straps up and leave it. Sometimes I will drop them to the ground and leave them leaning against the tree. If the stand wasn't productive then I'll bring it out to try somewhere else next year.

Left mine up last year, wish I hadn't. Ended up changing location on every one of them anyhow. Wish I had of put them up. Would have been better on them.
