Any of ya'll stayed at the Park Vista? I think I want something different than one of the motels on the strip, but i don't want to be way out of the way.

My wife has never been. I used to go almost every year, but haven't been in at least 10 years. Anything new I need to make sure to check out?

I stayed at the Park Vista a few years ago. I think that is the round looking tower on the hill. I was there for a couple of days at a conference. I remember that it was a little old but okay. Can't help you with new things to do. I gotta be there next week for A couple of days.

Have you considered staying in a Chalet up Ski Mountain Rd? No more out of the way than Park Vista. Either way you're close to town but still would need to drive down, instead of walking.

We were just up there in Oct. It is one of my favorite places in the world. I don't know what your interests are, we spend very little time in town - mostly just at night. Great people-watching. We spend virtually all day every day in the Park.

I have considered it, but I want a place with a restaurant/bar and room service if I decided to use it.

Last time we stayed at the Elk Springs Resort in a Cabin called The View. Really nice cabin and real quiet and peaceful there. It is located near Gatlinburg's Arts and Crafts Community.

It aint what it use to be to me. The hatfields and Mccoys show is pretty good. It is where the Black Bear Jamboree was. It is to touristy to me now. Be sure to hit Smokey Mountain Knife Works on the way in. I could spend hours in that place.

Stayed there about 3 years ago. It is Hilton property and has what you mentioned - restaurant, bar, etc. Also has an indoor pool. It is the round building that sits up on the side of the mountain just before you leave Gatlinburg and enter the National Forest. Can't say anything bad about my stay there.

I'm here now in a Chalet off of ski mountain road and it's beautiful. We are 2400 feet in elevation. We booked with Laurel Mountain Chalets and they have been nothing but wonderful.

Good to know.

As far as I can tell there is only one other hotel, River Terrace resort and convention center, that has a restaurant/bar and room service. Anyone know of any others. Pigeon Forge works, too.

There was a time when you could ride around and get away from folks but not anymore. I've never been big on any of the towns except to get some decent grub. Now I'd about rather hit NYC as Gatlinburg.

Gatlinburg... The white mans MECA. White men travel there just because. Is it the pancake house that draws them? Perhaps it's the taffy made in a far away place and shipped to the smokies. It's possibly the chance to see a poor old honey bear fiddling around in a dumpster at the hotel parking lot. The world will never know
