Lots of folks will think you are BS'ing. But, deer become acclimated to certain behavior and even certain people.

i wasn't cussin maybe i should have said donkey or mule though... i just felt for some reason i would get more serious replies than good old hoorah. i got plenty time for both. i have made two posts today, and thats my total post for the last 6 months and they were both shut down very quickly. i am lucky enough to have some very good property and was sincerely looking for tips to make it better.

since it obviously wont hurt to de-rail this topic(might help), i've contemplated not shooting does on greenfields, but the last several years we havent shot much of anything on our greenfields and the deer are still spooky. if you have neighbors that do, it wont help you. youd think theyd see my GFs as a "sanctuary", but imo they see it as every other greenfield with a shooting house.
i hunt a lot of 40s, 80s, 120, and what my neighbors do i might as well do. ive seen no difference. this year has absolutely been the worst with neighbors shooting everything. my 10 yr old and i passed a 3 point and a 5 point one morning like we do every year only to find out they both got shot. really disheartning. i have people hunting every nook and cranny around me. also this year the deer are so spooky theyre circling our shooting houses to see if anyone is inside before they come in to the GF. beats all ive ever seen. this is on a 120 acre property i hunt and we havent killed a deer. not because we couldnt have just trying to be picky like always. it aint paying off this year.

Stay off of it as much as possible and only hunt it when conditions are right and timing is right...which would be the 1st week of bow season and for 3 weeks or so during the rut.

I've got a small tract I own next to my house I used to have trouble seeing deer after the first week of bow season...even during the rut. I put in a lot of time hunting it and keeping cameras out. It just seemed the harder I hunted, the less I saw.

I now will only bow hunt it early on a few times and then don't even set foot on it until mid January. Most of the land around me is hunted pretty heavily and now by January I normally have at least a couple mature bucks living here that were not here before season. I see probably twice as many deer now (especially bucks), even though I'm only spending about 20% of the time hunting this tract than I once did. Also, I generally now either kill or have a chance to kill at least one 4 to 6 yr old buck on this place a year. In Jan 2013 I killed a 7 1/2 yr old 8 pt that taped out at 129 3/8. This is in Baldwin County and was a huge deer for this area.
Bottom line is in order to reduce human presence you have to reduce human presence.

I took my son and a friend to Greene county a couple of weeks ago to hunt a 1200 acre lease that hadnt been hunted a whole lot this season. We thought we hit the time perfectly, with the rut on and the weather breaking from all the rain. The first day we were covered up with deer, bucks and does. From there is dwindled down to no movement at all. We hunted 4 days fairly hard and just that little bit of human presence sent them on lock down. Just my observation.

Well, it's not hard with the right land. The problem is getting enough property. I am the sole hunter on these properties. 1 property I hunt the first week and the last week. 1 property I hunt the 2nd week and the first 10 days of Jan. 1 property I hunt from Jan. 10 until the last week. 1 property for dove and turkey that if I feel I have to hunt in Dec., is where I go. So, pretty much no property gets hunted over 2 weeks in a year. Also, if I kill a buck on a property, that property is through for the year. No "piddling." Hunt the wind.
