We do need to quit killing does. Every year more and more people are complaining about seeing fewer and fewer deer every season, yet there still shooting does and it makes as much sense as Obamacare ! Its not rocket science, harvest more does than bucks and you are reducing the population. We have been reducing the population for over 10 years now, it is really showing and its only going to continue to get worse until people quit shooting the does.

My beef is with the one guy that can't come to terms that QDMA was a contributor to over harvest in some areas.

It's fairly simple. If your area is overpopulated then kill does. If it's not and you consistently have trouble seeing deer then stop shooting does. It's not rocket science!

Good read, and thanks. QDMA has caused way more problems for deer than benefits it's added for growing trophy deer. That one post about too many hunters watching enough t.v. and reading enough articles to be dangerous is so true in Alabama, so true.

IMO the Vehicle Insurance Companies made a big push to have the States make doe harvest way more liberal because of the costs associated with deer/vehicle collisions. I know one place where I hunt we have enough since to know not to shoot does since it is a tough pull to see a deer on most hunts. Another place I hunt we might take a couple does off the property each season since the population allows us too. Hunters using common sense on taking does IMO would be the best approach instead of a broad sweeping government reg. In return I know a lot of hunters would decimate the population if you do not regulate it though.
