Never liked fruit cake until I tried some of the homemade type from Mary's Cake & Pastries in Northport, AL. They soak the fruit in rum for a month, and it's nothing like the mass produced stuff.

Seems like I remember some gas station in Scottsboro used to give those away for some kind of prize when I was younger. Seems like it was the gas station that use to be caddycorner from Sav-a-lot, if any of you local fellas remember.

Several years ago some friends gave me one as a joke - when I opened it I told them,"thanks that I love those things". Everyone laughed except me and my wife - finally she said, "he's serious he actually likes those nasty things."
My grandma and I are the only people that I know that actually like those bricks. Haven't had one in a long time, don't eat sweets much anymore, but use to love fruit cake.

 They don't taste like traditional door stop fruitcake though lol... Those things are awesome. One of my relatives makes a homemade fruit cake that is fantastic. yep folks don't know the their missing
