Any of you guys ever go in and just do a mid day hunt and have luck? Always have thought about it but usually I like to go either all day or just afternoon but was thinking tomorrow run and do a mid day hunt before work. All feedback is appreciated.

Couldn't hurt. I would say that most hunters leave the woods around 9 or 10 AM. Setting up around that time may produce deer which are being pushed by the other hunters leaving the woods.

You can't kill them if you're not there.

Absolutely if the feed times & moon phase calls for it. I've harvested a bunch of deer including some decent 8 points between 11am and 230pm

Any of you guys ever go in and just do a mid day hunt and have luck? Always have thought about it but usually I like to go either all day or just afternoon but was thinking tomorrow run and do a mid day hunt before work. All feedback is appreciated. The best year my Dad and his hunting Buddy ever had they never left the camp until around 9am. They killed most pf the Bucks they killed between 10:30 and 12 noon. It ticked the early risers off so much that they changed the rules where you had to be out of the woods by 10 am on morning hunts. My Dad began this practice when he and his buddy was older. He had been one of the early risers for years. But when we stopped dog hunting and went to stalk or green fields only he changed his tactics to meet his Buddy's sleep and health needs. He did not argue the rule changes, but guess what? They did not kill many bucks the next year. I have hunted mid day some and I have seen a lot of deer movement around 10 am when most hunters are leaving the woods. I have even seen Does and yearlings bed down in a green field after feeding for an hour and get up and feed later. Then be gone by 2pm when most hunters are probably headed to the stand. This year I am planning vacation days based on the position of the moon (Overhead or Underfoot) not necessarily the phase; especially in January and February. Many of those prime times are mid day or late morning, Less than a week y'all! Everyone hunt safe and ethically. And take a kid hunting!

I usually see deer between 11 and 1:00 PM. Most sits I stay till then before coming down the tree.

I hunted all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.. TN muzzleloader season. While I saw some deer early, nearly every buck I saw came after 9 a.m. Friday I had a shooter chase a doe by me at 10:00 and couldn't get a shot, made me sick. And Had a 3 yr old 9 point come under me at 11:50 Saturday. I've gotten to where I sit til 12:30 or 1 and go back around 2..... Seems like my most productive hrs are 9-12

Saturday, on the way home from the youth hunt, i had 120" buck run up and across a gravel road at 1:16pm. Close to houses, not in rut, so not sure what he was doing. My son saw him at 11am a few days before that in the same place. Sure wish this was on my land.

A few years ago It was a full moon, I decided to do a mid day hunt, got in the stand at 9:30. Shot a doe that came feeding by at 2:00 it was almost 90* that day.
Well, the way I see it is there's just too many assholes On a good day there's a bunch of assholes in here. On a bad day there's too many assholes in here.

When it's cold enough and during the rut I agree. I've often thought about hunting 10-5 rather than 6-12, lunch and then 2-5 but just never have done it.
