Hey guys, I'm looking at 160+ acres near the 2 clubs I hunt. My question is, how many members could you support on 160 acres? I'm thinking 4-6. Comments?

It really depends on how good of friends you are. 160 acres is enough for 3 or 4 people to spread out on but it is going to be tight.

It really depends on how good of friends you are. 160 acres is enough for 3 or 4 people to spread out on but it is going to be tight. Maybe if they are real good friends and bow hunting otherwise heck no to 4 to 6 people with rifles on 160 acres.

Realistically it's me and my 13 yr old daughter + 1 good friend of mine. Just wondering what it'd realistically support. The 3 of us hunt about once ever 2 weeks. Maybe 3 times per month

The rate normally thought of as OK is 100 acres per member. Of course the hunters, type of hunters and land affect this so there is no blanket answer. The 3 of you should work if it is well coordinated and planned where everyone knows exactly where the others are at all times and no one is shooting towards the others.

Thanks Jawbone! New to me so that's the kinda info I was looking for. It's pretty much 2 of us. I don't hunt when my daughter does and my friend hunts 1-2 times per month. Just wondering if there was room to ask more to hunt since it's probably a 5 or 6 day a month hunt between the 3 of us. That's why I was thinking 4 or even 6 total

Like JB said, 100 acres per hunter is the norm for a hunting club. You'll be fine with your daughter and friend but I wouldn't add anyone else

Maybe 3 times per month Three is a crowd on 160 acres. A tract that size can provide plenty of enjoyment for your daughter and you if pressure is carefully managed. Add a third person and the hunting quality can decline sharply. Deer do not respond well to the kind of pressure that three people will create on a relatively small area.

Come on guys I'm calling bs. My neighbors hunt 3-4 on 80 acres. But then again they ask why they don't see deer while I'm wrapped up with them usually.

This is what we have always done also. Type of terrain is factor also. Is it rolling hills, thick cover, flat clearcut, swamp, etc. 3 of you should be fine as long as well coordinated and all know where the other is

I lease 160 acres and three of us hunt it together. Plenty of room not on top of each other and there is room for a couple more if I wanted to do it. The bad thing about 160 acres is pressure, you can burn it quick. I've wanted more land but every year we shoot three to five really good bucks off of it when the neighboring clubs or land twice the size arnt doing much better on the numbers.
