x2 what Josh is saying. I will also add that I'm a 48 year old man that's boated in the gulf for 20+ years and a trip across the Atlantic to the Bahama's would have my bung hole in a knot. I've got a buddy that did it 10 er so years ago in a 30 foot Sea Ray and he said it was not a pleasant trip. Beat him and his boat up pretty good. Said he would never do it again.

Mine too (drawn up). I've been offshore multiple times per year since I was 10 years old. No way I would do it in anything less than a big sportfish. Hell I get nervousness running 25 miles offshore in a 30' CC. So much can go wrong in a matter of minutes. Last Tim we went out seas were forecasted for 4-6'. By lunch they were 10+. In a 19' boat it would be dangerous fast!

I don't go out in 6' seas regardless of vessel size.

The report I heard this morning was also saying they weren't supposed to go out of the pass.

Myself like others on here grew up and continue to fish offshore. I have been 80 plus miles offshore in the gulf with seasoned experienced captains when the seas go from a light chop to 8 plus and you better know what you are doing or it won't end well. Not that I've ever been but I would imagine that the Alantic Ocean is worse. The only time my daddy ever let me steer the boat at 14 is when it was on the trailer parked. He finally let me take it out without him in my twenties but that would be with another old salt my uncle.

19 foot boat , 70 miles across , not me. My son and his buddies did this trip last year and this year in a 26 foot boat and it gets rough. Last year only 4 ' seas and was worse than this years 8' seas. Depends on the direction your heading into the waves. It's just not for me and i worry about my son's safety.
