I hate the little boogers. I stepped over a copperhead today and that didn't bother me. These little suckers are straight from the devil.

You best take care of that in a very quick like way.

I got wrapped up once by them and they do suck.

Take some steel wool and scratch it all off, skin included.

I feel for you. I've been where you're at.

The worst. I got covered up one year during bow season.

Keep your pants tucked in your boots and your shirt in your pants. At this point I would normally start bragging abt not having any ticks or chiggers but that would be foolish and almost ensure full on attack next tome I step off concrete. At leastt you wont get bored over the next 7-10 days

Hunterturf's advice and use the Sawyers tick spray. I lay my clothes out in the yard this time of year and spray them along with my boots. You might try it. (probably not suitable for hunting because of the smell)

Probably not the smartest thing to take off in shorts in the woods this time of year. I felt them as soon as they got there and headed straight to the clubhouse and took a shower. I only had maybe 200.Then I got a dull knife and scraped them off and then rubbed the area with acetone then WD 40 (found another new use for it). Got back to B'ham, took another shower and picked a few off with tweezers. Those were on my left knee. Luckily I got every one of them. The only whelp I had was where I missed a big tick on the other leg. My nutsack was worried there for a little while.

I never saw anything like that. My mom got what she thought was a bump on her shoulder. Carried it for awhile. Went to the doc and it was itty bitty tick. But I never seen a herd of em like that. You got me skeered to go in the summer woods now.

Are these also known as chiggers? If so, i have an infestation on my legs from this past weekend....

If not, does anyone know how to treat chiggers?

No those are ticks, chiggers are the same as redbugs. Don't scratch chiggers, put some alcohol on your legs for a couple of days and they will be gone.

I hate them way worse than you do! I got them on my lower legs last turkey season. I didn't have any signs of a bulls eye rash that typical with Lyme disease, but low and behold about three to four weeks later I started having bad fatigue and about two weeks after that my sinuses stopped up and started having tingling in my fingers and toes. Please take every precaution you can and get these seed ticks off within 2 hours because that's all the time they need to transmit the bacteria into your blood stream! If you ever suspect you have symptoms such as arthritis or fibromyalgia please get tested for Lyme. You have to get tested through Igenex labs out of California as not all tests are accurate.
