How's the hunting in that area? I've hunted south of there near Aliceville....but don't know anything about the area north of that.... Any info would be appreciated... Got a 1400 acre lease that just came up and was planning on looking at it Saturday... But if I'm wasting my time...I ain't gonna waste the gas.... I'll go waste gas on the river.... Thanks in advance...

I hunt the north side of 82 at Mcshan. We have a pretty healthy herd and bucks seem to be getting bigger as more and more clubs are managing better. We killed several really nice ones last year.Decent turkey numbers.Last year down a little but I think most everywhere was.I,ve been in the same club for 15 years and really like the area.Hope this helps!

I hunted 3000 acres in that area, north of hwy 82,for 10 years. We killed 45 does a year per guidlines and on average 25/30 bucks. Never a problem to see deer and some real nice bucks were taken, largest was a 165 sixteen point. That not typical but possible in that area. I think there are higher numbers of deer south of hwy 82. I might be interested if you are going to need members.

Anything around coalfire creek is good.Theres plenty of deer in Pickens county.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Personally I think most of Pickens county has good deer density if the land can hold them there. I grew up hunting there and there were a lot of deer but we leased Weyerhauser land so every year the woods were cut and just got tired of hunting cutovers. In my opinion coal fire is good area and the closer you get to Aliceville and the river the better it gets. So gimpy if your prospect lease has any hardwoods on it probably good area if you can get it for less than $13 an acre.

Got a couple of friends that hunt Ethelsville area and they have a decent to good population. Average mature buck is going to be 110-115 but they have killed a couple of 140's over the years. I would think it would be worth looking at as it's going to be in the "better than average" category for the state.

The Aliceville area is very good. The closer to the river you can be, the better.

I think it's some of the best land In the state. I've seen some monsters down that way while I was fishing. We were going bowfishing down there last spring and we counted over a 100 deer from the boat landing at pickensville to the carrolton courthouse

We will burn that bridge when we get there
