I am considering buying 1 350# gravity feeder for my place. Does anyone have any experience with these? I do have a hog population to contend with also.

Bump. I am interested in this also. Mark Buxton mentioned that this type of feeder was the best option if you wanted to feed deer and not have the hogs/coons/opossum etc get the majority of your feed. He said the cost savings (not having hogs, coons, squirrels, opossum eating the feed) would pay for the feeder relatively quickly.

We have 3 of them. Love the feeders and the deer eat out of them with no problems. The hogs will get up on their hind legs as best they can to get to the feed, but mostly what they do is bump the legs to get the feed to fall on the ground...and they do it quite well. We have built fences with hog panels from tractor supply around all of ours now.

Edit: Add that we haven't noticed any problem with the coons/squirrels/etc eating out of ours or if they are, they aren't putting a dent in the feed.

These are great feeders and i plan on buying two more.

I bought the bottom section at a garage sale and am rigging it up to a 30 gallon drum that will be hung from a tree. Will be charging it with protein pellets in a week or 2 so I'll let you know how it works.

I use the boss buck feeders and they are the best feeders i have found for the money. I havent seen the big boss feeder.

Nothing out their is 100% coon proff. But the boss buck feeder makes it hard for them. With the spikey strips the coon have a hard time getting feed out of it by climbing the legs. You can also Vasilene the round parts of the feeder head so coons cant JUMP on the feeder head and hold on. Had my Boss Buck feeder for 2 years, am well pleased

I saw a billboard for these feeders coming home from FL last week. I talked to the owner, Sam. He said if it was set up properly and a coon got in it, he would personally drive to Tuscaloosa and give me my money back. I'm seriously considering one. Only deal is you have to go with the larger feeders for a large bucks rack to fit inside.

I saw an ad on-line where you could buy just the feeder troughs and bolt them to the bottom of a 55 gallon drum, saving a good bunch of money.

Ive tried all feeders. Boss Buck is the best most efficient feeder available. little advice...pony up and get the 600 lb model. once they find it, and get comfortable with it, the 350 will need to be filled every week. the 600 will at least get you two...maybe more. Also the legs are farther away from the feed head making it harder for coons to leap from legs to feed head....and more room for those big racks you will grow to fit between the legs. Hope that makes sense.
