I was in this club a coupe years ago. It is a beautiful place. Make notes as to where the "private" stands are located. When I was in the club, all of the good spots were taken up by these "private" stands. There are some good deer on the club. There are not a lot of deer there. All of the people that I hunted with were very nice. Jimmy, the guy who runs the place is very honest and a good guy. My only complaint was the "private" stands.

I Looked at it last year. Lots of rules I didn't like. One was you have to flag a trail to where your stand is, so others can find & use it. Make sure you get a copy of the rules & read them.

If you made your stand "private" would you still have to flag it? grin

I have read the rules and personally does not bother me with the private stands. I hunt private land also with friends and this is the way we have always hunted. My personal feelings. I'm not looking for a cut throat club to join. I will be hunting with a 6 year old most of the time so my competitive days are over for awhile.

THIS IS WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND, HUNTING IS NOT A COMPETITION, IT IS ABOUT ENJOYING GOD'S CREATION AND HAVING FUN. IF YOU WANT TO GO OUT AND HUNT AND KILL A DEER BY GOD DO IT, IF NOT THEN DONT, BUT DONT LET WHAT SOMEONE ELSE MIGHT SAY ABOUT THE DEER YOU KILL HINDER YOU FROM KILLING DEER OR HAVING FUN WHILE HUNTING. THE MOMENT I QUIT HAVING FUN IM SELLING EVERY ONE OF MY GUNS AND QUITTING.

I understand why they had the private stands. What I was saying, was that since I was a new member, all of the good places had been taken. When I was in the club, it was very family friendly. When I looked at the club, I expected the place to be covered up with deer. The land is some of the prettiest woods in the state. Lots of hardwoods. I saw less than 10 deer the entire season. I hunted every other weekend for the entire season. There were some nice deer killed, just not many. All of the bucks are killed on the food plots during the last 3 weeks of the season. Hope this information helps.

Poor choice of a word. I am not in a competition with any hunters, never have been. My hunting is to relax.

If I'm paying the same amount that the other members pay to hunt a club I am gonna damn well hunt all the land they can hunt too. Private stands wouldn't fly in my book.

Well when they formed the club all of the original members wanted an area that they could reduce the amout of hunting pressure. That is why they started the "private" stand rule. Well as the club grew and the amount of members increased, this hurt the new members. The guys who have been in the club for a while have got some great spots to hunt. But they have been paying their dues for several years. Jimmy the president of the club, explained this rule to me in great detail before I joined the club. I made the choice tio give it a shot. I really thought the place would be infested with deer. It was not. That is why I got out.

So basically the new members are just helping pay the lease so the long time members can hunt the prime spots. Gotcha
