A few years ago it was all the rage. It went up to $90 a bag and we gave up on it. Now the price has come down we might get a few bags. Our Deer didn’t mow it down but I think it helped our soil.

My deer eat it straight out of the ground. They caught on quick. I tried it three times, i think. Never saw a mature sunhemp plant

Grew it for several years s and then got some form of wilt that killed it off two years in a row.

I am planting it again this year. My deer eat the crap out of it. I rank it right up with clover on something a deer has a tough time eating to the ground on my lease. I can't plant a straight soybean, Eagle soybeans might work. I have to have a cover crop to do soybeans, like Buckwheat or clay peas.

Yes. The deer will wear it out once they figure out what it is. It also puts a lot of material (stalks) out to help build up poor soils with organic matter when they are cut and disked in.

I'm trying it this year. Added some Saturday to a WMS Pea Patch mix and going to plant an acre in it and Clay peas later this month on an acre. New planting on my ground. We'll see how it does.

I’ve got quite a bit in a Vitalize nitro-boost mix that’s about 10” out of the ground now.

First year we grew it, things were amazing.

Second year, on field edges the deer smashed it.

Third year, they smashed everything.

Fourth year, same.

I got away from it about 2 years ago because it cost more than soybeans or peas but had the same fate.
