There is this one guy that has shot 20 bucks this year in Alabama and I commented how is he not in jail and he comments back he knows about loopholes and what not and they are not in the regulations guide that I go by. It is so redneck that my comment enraged other rednecks that I was a game warden in disguise and the government can’t tell these “true hunters” how many to kill. It really shows what we are up against in Alabama trying to grow a strong healthy deer population.

True Bama Hunters is even more entertaining than Alabama Deer Hunters. That “feeding my family” bunch on there is one if the most easily triggered and confrontational groups of people I’ve ever seen.

Hunters will end hunting in Alabama not an outside source like PETA. Y'all quit being snobs. There not your deer.

It be's that way sometimes.

I remember back in the early 80's when several well known bow hunters here, killed a hundred deer or more a year. Does were as plentiful as hair on a dogs back before the statewide doe hunts with a gun. Not many folks bow hunted with us, and you could hunt any WMA you wanted to and never see another Hunter outside of a gun hunt. I remember reading stories about Jerry Simmons and how proficient he was at killing deer with a bow. He was one of the best hunters I ever remember. I "think" I remember him killing over a hundred deer a year with a bow for years. It really wasn't that hard to do, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

I was happy to kill around ten a year with a bow. I never picked up a gun for about twenty years. One year I killed 7 racked bucks before gun season opened. I was very content with my kills that year and didn't shoot a doe that year. I kept journals of every hunt and all the details are forever recorded as a testimony to what the good ole days were like. When I reached one hundred kills with my bow, I quit hunting with a bow and haven't shot a doe since then with a gun. I was like Forrest Gump when he quit jogging. I was through killing deer just to be killing them. Now I hunt and enjoy my time in the woods.

This is true. I always had several elderly families I would process deer for each year. They were on a very limited income and were very grateful when I would bring them a box of meat for the family. Two deer a year feeds me and my friends now, so that is all I shoot now. I really miss a young processed doe as compared to an older buck. The meat taste has a distinct taste difference.

I've known Jerry for 50 years, I don't think he ever came close to 100 deer in one season. In 50 years of bowhunting I've never known of anyone killing even 50 deer in one season.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I was trying to remember if it was AL Game and Fish that did an article on him back in the 90's about the number of deer he had killed. I am probably mistaken on him, that is why I put "think" in there. There is no way I would ever want to deal with that many deer a year. I know my memory isn't as good as it once was, but that ole boy sure killed a lot of deer with the Landshark broad head.
