College football is such a joke. I can't think of any jobs where its illegal to get paid what you're worth. It's not illegal but apprentices and interns don't get paid. . If the kids have the talent and drive they'll use the college platform to get paid at the next level. If they don't have what it takes they get a free education. Depending on the school that's worth 6 figures over the course of 4 years plus, if they got their degree in something worthwhile, they'll get paid for that degree. I've got no issue with kids getting a reasonable stipend but if they got paid on a performance basis then college sports becomes just another professional league. I don't think most of us want that.

Yeah, but obviously they're worth more than the full ride that they get, or else schools wouldn't be paying them cash money on the side. And apprentices don't get paid, because they're not worth any money to anyone. They're there for their own education. If they had coaching skills or something else that was marketable, they'd go get paid.

College football is such a joke. I can't think of any jobs where its illegal to get paid what you're worth. Not getting paid?? A fully paid 4 year degree at a university with room and meals can cost $50,000 per year or more. Ask any of these graduates who leave college with over $100K in debt if they would like to have had that opportunity. Most of these players would never get a degree because they don't have the grades to gain acceptance or could never afford it. Not getting paid??? Horsechitt.

They're obviously worth more than they're "making". This is why they're getting money on the side. Just because you think room and board is "enough" doesn't mean it is. Lots of people think NFL players are overpaid, but they don't really care about that opinion.

Never said anything about what their value is, I just can't stand the attitude that they aren't getting anything in return for playing a sport. Most are getting an opportunity at an education that would otherwise be out of reach for them, and not just financially. If not for football, their admission files would be thrown in the trash after a quick glance. What would their opportunities in life be then? If they make it to the NFL, they hit the jackpot. Good for them.

I’m about tired of it all anyway. College football is just a farm league for the NFL. The cost of attending a game has gotten way out of hand for a common fan like me to even attend.
