Anyone on here a member of a Cert team or volunteer search and rescue group? What's the lowdown on them? Are they worth joining?

I used to be a member of CERT in Autauga county before we moved. I think alot of it depends on the group that you are with. My son and I are volunteer firefighters and ems now.

I was CERT when I was in Auburn. Not sure if Dallas County has one. Need to look into it.

I hunt with a guy that is a memeber of some kind of group that does search and rescue in Pensacola. He has a yellow lab and him and the dog are certified ( don’t know what organization does the certificate) but they have to go test every couple months. When my son is with me at camp we always have him go hide somewhere to get the dog to find him. Pretty impressive for sure what a dog can do.

For those of yall that have done it, is it worth it? Did you feel that it was beneficial for local emergencies?

I did it as an vet school elective on disaster medicine that got us certified. I think it's a great thing to be a part of if you're wanting to help.
