Yep, they are going to be done before season even opens

Y'all do understand that opening day is not meant to be the time when they start gobbling and breeding don't you? It is supposed to be timed to the peak. I've listened a couple of mornings. I definitely don't think they are there yet. Here's a snippet from a DCNR website.

Hunters often complain that spring gobbler season begins too late. However, for several biological reasons, seasons should not begin before the peak of breeding.

I like to breed year round. And I haven't had a crappy season in the past 30 years.

Those old hens won't get bred because of all the intrusion from hunters on the 15th of March. At least thats what I heard.

I think we’d be ok. No way they’d suspect us this early in the game laugh

Seen 7 Tom's on the side of 22 this morning. 1 group of 4 and then a group a 3 further down the road. No strutting or breeding that I seen. About 815am

Watched 2 gobblers fight this week; a hen with them didn't seem to be paying much attention.

Saw a half dozen different hen flocks the past week and nary a gobbler in tow. That being said, I'm up near the TN state line.
