I'm going to take a long 3 day weekend and do a public land gun hunt somewhere. Priorities are great camping, relaxation and opportunity to walk from camp and go put on some stalks or set up in a ground blind and get a shot at a deer..doe buck, don't care. Gonna roast the backstraps and tenderloins over an open fire if I get one. If no deer, then i'm going to shoot a rabbit or tree rat and do the same thing.
I've backpacked camped at Walls of Jericho which is part of the WMA I think and in the Sipsey Wilderness which part of that WMA or Natl Forest I think.
Name some great places.

Sounds awesome!!!! I hope I’m in whatever camp your in if you do kill somesomething. The only ones I have been to are walls of Jericho but we camped at the trail head. We also go down to Barbour county wma. They have a nice set up there.

Probably too far for you, but Blue Spring has a very nice campground on open pond.
Nice private campsites and hot showers at the end of the day. Spent 20 plus years camping and hunting there.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Wall of Jericho about Jan2-5 That's similar to my thinking. Great camp site around the meadow. Fresh spring water close.

Choccolocco WMA is nice. I have camped at Coleman Lake, Pine Glen and roughed it in one of the Hunter Camps. All, enjoyable experiences.

I’d go in by boat and camp in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. It’s completely remote primitive camping. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to at least kill a pig and still hunting those river bottoms is fun. You can kill them just riding around in the boat too just exploring and relaxing - it’s beautiful in there. We camp in there every year Thanksgiving week and dog hunt. Eat and drink way too much, see old friends and have a blast. Kill some deer & pigs too!

I have seen them in the lower delta but don't know how far into the delta they go.

Those cabins on the lower delta are paddle access only and are available for reservation on the Bartram Canoe Trail website, but yes, they are very cool.
