Is this really unique to Selma? or is this a sign of things to come in small town America that becomes predominantly black? I know several have said this isn’t a race issue. It may not be a white/black race issue but it is definitely a “hood” issue. I’m sure that might offend some but the truth is the hood mentality is that of “anti-authority”, “I am owed everything”, “anything I dont like is because of racisism”. As long as this attitude prevails, this problem will only get worse. The Kaepernicks of the world only fuel this problem.

This is not just a "hood" issue. I have spoken with blacks that are definitely not in the hood and they support shooting cops, even black cops. I was shocked, but one actually said the Selma cop shot this weekend got what he deserved.

Their is decent people in Selma but neighborhoods have been taken over by thugs sad situation but I think they need to send the guard in apcs mraps abrams m4s the whole 9 yards and take care of business

Like I said early in this post. Everyone is right about there being good folks living there. But it seems like they are being held hostage by the thugs and the corruption running the city. Like some of you on here I have a friend who left about 10 years ago cause he could see the writing on the wall and didn't want to turn out like a lot of his friends ( dead or in prison) . When I have to go there to work on one of the carwashes it like entering a different world. The company doesn't allow us to have a firearm on premises but what they don't know won't hurt them. Me or my helper keep eyes on the truck and our heads on a swivel when we are there.

I can remember growing up in the late 80s and early 90s and going to Selma on Saturday or Sunday was a big thing for us Selma seemed like new york to a small backwoods Monroe county boy my grandma and mom loved that mall but now I avoid it at all costs as stated earlier corruption and the chestnuts/Sanders and others have ruined it now the thugs have control

Dang, that is sad...our high school plays at Columbia (in hsv system) tonight. Think I heard where a second student in the last month was arrested for bringing a gun to school. Thought I may need to for sure be packing tonight...then remembered the game is off campus and nobody goes to their games.
