Sounds like yall are being ungrateful and not enjoying what you have. That phrase....dont forget where you came from? Which some cant relate to that because they were born with a silver spoon. No pun intended. Be thankful for what you have...dont complain about it lol.

So, how is your hunting lease? How about you just let me hunt for free there for the season? I mean, I know you work hard making money to join a fine lease, have a nice 4-wheeler/truck, rifle, camper to stay in. I also know you work hard planting food plots, working the land, managing your herd, etc..., but I don't belong to a club and haven't shot a deer in several years. So, how about you just explain to your fellow club members that you don't want to sound stuck up, or like you have forgotten where you came from, so your going to let me come down there and hunt all season for free, using all your stuff, and shooting whatever I want? I mean, after all, I wasn't born with the hunting version of a silver spoon in my mouth.

You jumped all over me lol. Who said i have a hunting lease cause i dont. But i do have nice things and i dont let anyone use them. I like folks asking for my stuff. That means im blessed. I dont cry about it. But we will pray for you being blessed in a terrible way. Actually....why arent the owners of that condo on here crying about it? You dont even own it? So in reality your being ridiculous!

You didn't answer my question. How about it? When do I get my gate key? Also, they only problems I have are ruined knees from crawling around in the coal mines, servicing mining equipment for 8 years paying to send myself to college to give me better opportunities. Everybody else can do the same but some would rather sit around and cry about others having it better than them.

Yeah, your right, I jumped on you. You're the one saying we sound stuck up, and made comments about forgetting where you come from. But I jumped on you. Got it. Also, I never said I owned it. I was actually pretty clear that I didn't. Even when I advertised it for them, WHICH THEY ASKED ME TO DO, I stated then who's it was and who to call. All I said was that it amazed me at the people that started contacting ME asking for free use, when I was very clear up front that it wasn't even mine. No wonder you don't "get it", your reading comprehension sucks.

My sisters and their families, my wife’s brothers and their families, a few cousins and my dearest friends are welcome to anything we have. But I’ve been had before by not so close family and friends and it won’t ever happen again.

I loan or give my stuff to any of my friends who ask and I don’t ask for $hit from anyone. That’s just how I am.

Those new fees piss me off. I’ll do anything I can to avoid vrbo.

I have a friend at work and they have 3 condos in Destin. Nice condos. They rent them all the time. They got tired of getting ripped off by VRBO. She now lists them on her own website and gets more traffic there. She uses various means such as Facebook to direct traffic there, but now she just has a loyal following. I can assure anyone it's anything but "half assing" it. They've already paid for two of the condos and are paying off the 3rd one.

VRBO is kind of like the Uber of rentals. You create an app that uses other people's time, capital investments, hard work and resources, and then take about 40% of the cut for basically doing nothing and risking nothing. And then play all kinds of games with the people you are ripping off like listing them way down the search if they opt for a less expensive plan, holding your money, etc...

Interesting reviews from renters and owner's of vacation rental property owners:

https://www.consumeraffairs.com/online/vrbo.html

I think VRBO may have started with a good plan, but they have strayed far away from that now.

I don’t disagree that vrbo has gone down hill since being bought out. With that being said, you’re incorrect about your percentages. You can actually completely avoid all fees except the yearly premium. Our experience has been pretty good with traffic, renting an average of 47 weeks a year across different properties. They may have a better strategy, i would love to hear more about it. What I’m pretty certain about, is their success isn’t based on sharing it a few times on Facebook. That was my initial point. Occasionally renting your vacation home, is where the drama and bad interactions come into play. You need such a reliable system and support network to rent without issue, that doing it on occasion is tough on both renters and owners.
