We are giving our grand children some land and I plan to use quit claim deeds. I went into the courthouse in DeFuniak Springs, Fl this week, got a blank copy and filled it out, about 30 minutes total and cost less than $20. I went to the Court house in Troy yesterday with a similar plan and you would have thought they had never heard of one. It seems the lawyers in Alabama are trying to do away with the easy way to change land ownership. You can't get a blank copy from the court house. I went to 3 lawyer offices and all I got was double talk when I ask for a blank, they all said they print one off of a web site, but they wouldn't tell which one and were not helpful as well. I'm pretty sure I finally have a blank on the way, but it will take another trip to the courthouse and be a hassle. Buncha crap.

while you're at the courthouse go to the record room, ask the nice lady there to look up a recorded quit claim deed or 2 and print them out for you to use as a guide..

Would you let someone come in your business, ask you how to do everything and give them the tools to do it? A lawyer is paid for his legal services and advise. Look on the creaking internet if you want something free. Quick claim deeds are easy. Why do you need a different one that you used in Florida?

A title company would probably get you one for free. Call an attorney's office and ask secretary.

Again, why do you think an attorney should give you work product for free? My secretary would laugh at you if you called and wanted something for free.

Man, l was trying to figure out what some pines were worth on a small tract of land. Called a couple of foresters and asked them if they'd just ballpark it for me, cause I was selling the land myself. Those jokers wouldn't do it for me, and told me l needed a 5% or 10% cruise, and I'd have to pay for it.

World's going to hell.

I wouldn't be calling yours for the form then. On the second hand, if it was a women I bet I could have her talked into it in a few minutes if she had the form handy.😁 You being an attorney I bet you understand the power of persuasion.

Maybe a small town one that wants future business or an up and coming B'ham attorney looking for future business would be more than happy to provide a blank form. Some of those understand the value of helping someone can lead to more future business. I know a few that would if they had the form. Some more established lawyers won't even talk to you unless they have at a 2k retainer. Just the way the wheel turns!

I think what Timbercruiser is getting at is how much easier it was to do in Florida than here in Alabama.....I purchased a small lot in Florida a few years ago and used the same courthouse that Timbercruiser used.....had all my paperwork together....in an out in a half hour....no lawyer required.

I didn’t have any problems when I did some property in Alabama, Seems like i got the paperwork from Office Depot, got my survey and typed it character perfect then carried it to the courthouse

I give free advice about timber and land all the damn time, but I wouldn't begrudge a lawyer if he got a shortwood truck and a chainsaw and cut a few loads of wood.
I got a quit claim deed blank this morning
