From on of the kits. I'm thinking about buying one for myself and getting dad one for christmas as an after dark winter kind of project. Anyone suggestions on a kit to look at? It doesn't have to be anything super fancy
We will burn that bridge when we get there

Never built one, but I think all the kits I've ever seen were CVA. My first wife's father built a Kentucky Long Rifle one winter when they lived in Indiana. He carved the stock out of a maple 2x4 and made all the parts except the barrel himself...absolutely gorgeous rifle! That thing was about 5' long, but very well balanced...when you shouldered it, it felt like you could hold it there all day.
Well behaved women never make history.~ Out back Quit laughing...I think I broke something.
Fifteen is my limit on Schnitzen-Gruben, Baby...
I have OCD and ADD, so everything has to be perfect, but only for a minute.

I built a TC Hawken 50 Cal. about 40 years ago. The wife gave it to me for Christmas the first year we were married. It was fun to build and I have killed deer with it.
Grandma said...Always keep a gun close at hand, you just never know when you might run across some varmint that needs killing...
