Hurricane Opal did something similar back in 95. If this things turns a little further to the right its gonna be on for us.

Sure hope it makes a hard left and go to Mexico. We sure don't need it to come just to the west of us. Lots of potential for the water to get deep again.

Though I remember last year, we do have many areas that have seen too much rain so I'm inclined to agree with you

I'll take the rain from it. One more good soaking would assure we made a late bean and cotton crop. And help digging peanuts next few weeks. Then let the rain shut off til Dec 1 and I'd be happy.

I was a student at Auburn for Opal. It was crazy down there. Auburn was a war zone for weeks afterwards.

Yep. They even postponed the LSU game if I recall correctly.

Was that the one around 1976 or so.There was one my first fall semester at Auburn which rendered us powerless for days. Remember a kid got fried on a live line right across from where I lived and frat parties by candle light are awesome.

Our agency cost shared with the farmers in the cleanup of the aftermath of opal. Used to have some pics of some impressive washes in henry and Houston counties. It absolutely did some raining down there!

Funny story. The ESPN crew was there for that game. They literally left a hand written note taped to the side of the stadium saying that they were leaving because of the hurricane. My brother had it. I'll have to see if he still has that.

I looked back at that thread a couple days later and the graphic map had updated and the corndogs were gone. Only a lucky few got to see the African corn dogs.

I hope it doesn't hit Galveston Bay & wipe out the refinerys.

I am pretty sure William is talking 1995. Hurricane Erin and Opal hit Pensacola Florida in 1995, we had just about had things cleaned up from Erin when Opal hit.
