Walt Pittman had a problem with his d-loop also. There were several targets that he didn't even shoot at because his peep was turned where he couldn't see through it. Tim Gillingham wasn't well enough to return either. I know that has to be eating at him. It was like a terrible nightmare watching my arrows fall right under nearly every hit pad.

I had dinner with Walt and the Nu Fletch guys down there this weekend. I remember hearing them talking about it. It's amazing how many things can go wrong in archery!! BTW, Walt and the NuFletch folks were a blast to hang around with this weekend!

Sounds like you have it a heck of a try. What does it take to enter that competition? Since I drive by shoot, I might actually be pretty good at it lol.

$450 and Buckmasters membership. If you can hit a 5"x5" square at 55 yards and control your nerves at the same time you should do just fine.

I could get the money,, do decent on the shooting
until the last 2 factors are brought in!
Nerves and the crowd watching!!
Then I would not be able to hit the side of a barn!

It's even more interesting when there's a big ass tv camera behind you. And what really sucks, is when they have a problem on the range during the middle of your round and you have to turn around in the stand and face the crowd while they correct the problem.

Then there's the AlDeer member, Okfuski, that works the range being a smart ass. Back in '07 I went out to shoot the second round and there was a folding chair in the stand. Everyone had been shooting sucky scores and I figured we had to sit down to shoot the round. Okfuski said they put the chair in the stand so I could stand on it and see all of the targets. slap I shot a 207 and cleaned the round. grin

Then there's the time that RobertM shot the owl..... rofl

Heck, may get a wild hair and give it a try next year. What are the speed limitations? Stabilizer maximums? How much time for each target? I've watched it before but it's been a while.

You can find the rules on the Buckmasters website. 300 fps speed limit and 12" stabilizer I think. You can use a rangefinder and they have markers on the range marking 20 30 40 and 50 yards. One thing that I've had trouble with the last few years is getting the right amount of light on my sight pins but not to much light. If I have enough to see the red pins then the green ones are to bright. I'll be ready next year. I changed all my pins to green yesterday and cut it down to a 30, 40 and 50 yard pin. Come on out and give it a try. You can't buy that kind of a rush.

The rules say 16" on the stabilizer now.

I didnt think that owl was ever going to stop bouncing on the floor that day. Only an "Electrifying" one could make that kinda shot.

I said that I wasn't ever going back after I shot a 33 on my last round Saturday. I had to have had steam pouring out of my ears I was so mad. Now that I know it was equipment failure and not just me and I've had time to cool off, I just can't walk away with my last score being a 33. It's just something addictive about this sport.

I'm going to start practicing early spring next year. No 3D shoots, just training for Buckmasters. If my back holds up, I'll be there.

Good deal Shaw. See if you can get RobertM to take a break from kung fu and shoot with us.
