Good point; happened to me. I had planned to be full-time until 70 and then find a smaller church after that. Never expected to retire at 62, but I didn't have a choice.

Now I preach as a fill-in when anyone asks me, and do a little forestry work. I spent 5 hours on a tractor yesterday and I'll have to lie here and recover the next couple of days. So I spend a lot of time on aldeer and trying to make a little money in the financial markets.

Perfect world in 4 years I will move to the farm in Bama, bill about 15-20 hours a week doing what I do and become a gentleman farmer ie one who does it for fun, not one who is trying to make a buck.

This one is both entertaining and frightening.
24 years til retirement(to age 70) and have been with my company 24 years.
I have put a lot of money in 401K and really hope to travel the country and spend a lot of time hunting and fishing in the Western and MidWestern states.

With that being said, I have watched my Mother's health decline rapidly over the last 3 years. Heredity is a strong thing and I pray daily that I will not be in the same shape and I will actually get to enjoy the benefits of my hard work.

Don't know , but something with much less stress and drama, and prolly less pay. I'll be happy with all three.

1. I'd like to become more self sufficient, downsizing to a cabin in the woods, growing a garden & canning, eating mostly wild game we kill & fish we catch, continue heating with firewood. All of which will be a lot of work.

2. I'd like to teach part time in my profession, but it will likely be 1-2 days/week for minimal or no pay. This may keep my brain from going totally 'cave-man.'

I have a long time to work before then though. And for all of us, our health has to hold up until then.

Interesting topic here.

Amen to that.

My "plan" would be to have a couple of mini-storages that are pretty self sufficient to pay the bills. I'd also like to dabble in land brokerage/real estate....nothing residential though.

I don't know that I would ever want to completely retire; but, I don't think I could keep up my current pace.

I would probably move into an account exec role and work when I wanted to work with a select number of accounts and negotiate a high commission as a 1099 contract employee. It would be a win/win for both parties - with no expense to the potential company.

Planning on "retiring" early. Thinking I'll probably teach at the college level for a while until I have to start pulling money out of retirement.

I will hunt, fish and train dogs. Hope to have enough from pension and 401k that I can live off the interest but time will tell I guess. This working thing is for the birds, I'd rather play lol.

I'm not gonna work if I make it that far. I may do some teaching, but on my terms and on my schedule, that ain't work.

I've got a bucket list of other fun/recreational things to do. I'm update it periodically. I'm trying to knock out the things that i don't think I'll be able to do when I retire because of physical ailments.

I'm probably gonna die long before I retire. No regrets here.

I'll keep cutting grass and let my wife continue to work and have the insurance drawn out of her check for a few years!

not a damn thing that requires me to be somewhere at a specific time of day or day of the week. Whatever I want to do when I want to do it. Hopefully travel around the country as much as I can afford to, hunt fish and piddle around the house. That should be plenty to keep me busy.
