Have a friend moving to Prattville area within the next month. He is wanting to know what is the best elementary school so he can start looking for a house in that school district. Any help would be appreciated.

It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

Prattvile Elementary is fine, previous poster is correct as choice is Prattville or Daniel Pratt. Our experience was that the staff was not very helpful at all to myself and my wife when we called to check the Prattville Elementary out when we moved to the area a couple years ago. Standoffish and would not tell us jack crap only to come visit on their "open house day" which so happens to be after the last day to registr at all the private schools BTW. They also refused to provide a cirriculum which I thought very odd. Not blasting them just giving my first hand experience, maybe someone has been fired in the last couple years and things have improved.

I currently have one at PCA (private) and plan on sending my other two there as well. Commom core (which is also partially taught at PCA but side by side with the old methods for math) and a slow ciriculum scared my wife from public. Our kids have been in a great structured day care and we spend a good amount of time with them so they went into Kindergarden being able to read monosylaballic words. K1 at Prattville starts with learning ABCs from scratch with no plans for the kids that can already read. Also start with basic numbers, nothing for the kids that can already count to 100. It was disheartening for me to see what public school has become. My 0.02 only a slight rant.

If your buddy needs day care look at Camellia or EMCA. Both have good structured learning for young kids.

The Prattville schools get alot of press but co-workers whose kids go there complain alot about overcrowding and lack of effort/communication by the administration. The only the high school worries about is there football team (which has been very successful). Not sure how much of any of the above is true, just feedback I've heard.

No school is perfect but it takes good participation by the student, parent and teacher to be successful.

Daniel pratt is the better of the two elementary schools 1st-6th. Both have good teachers but the facilities are better. He will have to be in the 36066 zip code to be in that school. I actually live next door to the school and have lived in Prattville for 35 years. Let me know if he needs anything.

Prattville grad here. Both of my daughters graduated from P'ville as well. Have my first granddaughter starting first grade this year.

As stated above, Daniel Pratt is the newer of the two.

Montgomery does like to talk Prattville down all the time. Just jealously. Prattville can have a sink hole appear and the Montgomery paper will make it a headline for over a week. They will put the several murders that occurred in Montgomery during that time on the back page. LOL

The one thing bad about Prattville schools is that they don't get the opportunity to graduate from Stanhope Elmore (c/o 95 here). Sorry had to stir the pot a little.

School system is at most average to less then average. My daughter left Montgomery Magnet program in 99 % in every subject and 6 years later in Pville made a 24 on ACT. Crappy schools! All you need to know is that the superintendent of Autauga County Schools is like 5 foot 6 inches. When he was the principal of the middle school he had 15 ( all of the men staff) or so men teachers that were SHORTHER THEN HE WAS! That's statistically impossibility in todays world.

The humor / irony of your post count in regards to Prattville schools is really funny.

So Prattville schools made her less intelligent?

Skullworks, You obviously don't lose intelligence but poor instruction can affect scores on test. Some of her decline was due to her effort but a large amount of her drop in performance was due to mediocre preparation via her instruction at Pville school system (which inludes Pville's Gifted Program). I would add that both of my parents were /are retired school principals so I am familiar with quality educators.

I would also add that I was in horror at my daughter's recent graduation. In my life there has been nothing to compare to the embarrassment of the Pville High Ceremony. I THOUGHT I WAS AT A SOUL TRAIN DANCE OFF. The administrators should have been fired to allow the behavior that was present from start to finish. I was left speechless.

I'm class of '84 and Janet is class of '81. Was a decent system back then. The private school folks wanted to come to PHS in those days. The doc that used to work with us in the P'ville office sends his kids to PCA.

The short superintendent is Coach Larry Butler. I didn't know he was still up there. Figured he'd be retired by now. Dude was one helluva scary guy back in the day. I'm sure Elkhunter can tell you stories. I washed out of the football program in junior high but I had all I wanted of him in PE afterwards.

Our three kids went K-12 in Prattville public schools and got a solid education. I served six years on Autauga Co Board of Education and saw the system inside and out. No other place I would have placed my kids back then. Can't speak for the system today because we moved away 10 years ago.

Butler has long been retired. I think Spence Agee is super now, I may be wrong however.

Seems like Crockett is very sore towards Prattville schools lol
