I have said it before, if I have cash than I am much more likely to spend it all much quicker than using a credit or debit card. If I have cash sitting in my wallet then I want to spend it. I hate to swipe my card and see that money withdrawn from my account. I have always been like that. I use my credit card and pay it off each month and get the cash back. I am 22 years old and have a house of my own and am not turning away free money. I have been doing that since 18 and have built up an amazing credit score which paid off when getting into my new house with a great interest rate. I also don't carry a lot of credit card debt, only what I can handle. I know its easier said then done, but having bills has helped me remain well disciplined. A word to the wise, if your credit card bill isn't completely paid off at month's end, you're not very disciplined and should probably cut up the card. It is always completely paid off each month. Always.

There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

That's the right answer, so this thread can shut down.  I always carry $200 or so; there are some things you can't buy with a CC. But I uses CC for most purchases and use the one paying the highest rewards for the item. And I pay them all off every month. I am pretty sure I don't spend more because of the convenience of a CC, though I can see that many would. If I need something I buy it; if I don't need it I don't buy it. My family says it's impossible to buy for me at Christmas- I've already bought anything I need.

I wish we could run out of oil and electricity tomorrow. Not going to happen. Your personality is exactly who I was describing. Let me guess, you write checks at the grocery store? No grasshopper, I pay cash at the grocery store. I write checks (and use stamps) to pay bills. Like God intended.

It will be interesting when our governments tries to eliminate the use of cash, "because no one uses it anymore..."
Once cash is eliminated the government can track everything you earn and everything you spend. Not trying to sound to "tin foil hat" or anything , but it's true.
Once that is done, try to buy something at a garage sale or buy a vehicle cheap, and flip it for a little profit? It will all be taxed then.
Bingo! I'll keep saying this 'til I die but all of the electronic niceties we enjoy are eroding our freedom and personal privacy. BCBS stopped accepting cash for payments about 3 years ago. I wonder why this happened?!?

I wish we could run out of oil and electricity tomorrow. Well seeing how the good ole USA is sitting on over 3 Trillion barrels of oil trapped in oil shale, I doubt we will run out by tomorrow. And as long as the ole Tennessee River keeps flowing, many of us will have electricity. Maybe only a trillion barrels of the oil is recoverable with today's technology, but that still leaves us well over a hundred years to figure out how to get the rest of it or at least time to develop alternatives to oil. By the way, last year I got over $800 cash back from my credit card for buying things I was going to buy anyway. That's free money. Plus, by doing the Walmart app and savings checker, I have over $150 saved up, but with that, it doesn't matter how you pay, but still, it's free money.
