In relation to MSRP, that is. I've never bought a new one before and might be buying one this week. I've got no idea how much they normally discount them from the msrp, or even if they do.
I talked with a salesman briefly Saturday, and he was talking retail price. Surely that's for suckers?
So if the msrp is $6k, what should I expect to pay? Something in the $5500 range, or is that lower than they normally sell?
Thanks for any help.

Were I in your shoes, I'd price shop (on-line) at Lake Hill Motors (MS) and Southern Powersports (TN). They're both large volume Honda dealers & their prices are typically the lowest in the nation.
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

Whatever you do, buy a Honda.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I bought mine in Montgomery. Got pricing online from the Mississippi places, then bargained with Montgomery Honda. Once I got their lowest price, I told them I guess I would just drive to Mississippi because I could get it for "x" amount. They got within 400 dollars of Mississippi places, so I bought from them. I did something similar but made them make up the difference in accessories.

and if you are looking for a Polaris I would call shoals outdoors.......beat everybodys prices when I bought a few months back Shoals did have a good OTD price when I was shopping for a Polaris. But just a couple things to caution you about, especially if you are financing any part of it. They will go to their local CU first, and tell you that X.XX% is the best they can do, probably around 5%, when it's not. Even Polaris had lower advertised rates at the time, and Shoals didn't even check with them. For the most part, good salesmen to deal with, but be careful if you decide to finance it.

There are some smoking deals on yr or two old ones that someone thought they needed but then its been sitting in garage after riding it a couple of times. Ton of em on FB on Central Alabama trucks, atv's, utility trailer and 4x4's page

Thanks for all the advice, but nobody answered my question. I still don't know if I should offer 90% of msrp or if that would be an insult.
I'd have to save at least $500 to make it worth the drive to TN or MS, just to pay the travel expense. Are they really that much cheaper?
I'm about to walk in the place in Montgomery. Gonna compare the Yamaha and Honda. I already know that nobody makes one like I want. Why would I want an ATV as big as a truck?
Thanks again for the help. I'd consider a used one, but I always get burned on anything used.

It depends on the dealership. Lakehill and Southern Powersports will not take a dime less than they quote you. They are the highest volume dealers in the country and their price is cut in stone. Dealing locally I'd start at 80% of their asking price.

Figure out exactly which model you want, then either call or go online to get the price at lake hill and offer that price to your local dealer. Guaranteed you want get it for that price. Lakehill doesn't negotiate, the price they list is the price you pay and it's the lowest you will find. Shouldn't cost more than $100 in gas to drive to Corinth.
If you want to always win, never play anyone better than you!

Thanks for all the advice, but nobody answered my question. A couple folks on here did. If Lake Hill Motors or another volume dealer has the brand and model you want, call them to get a price. Compare that price to MSRP. Then use that to negotiate the price locally.
83% of all statistics are made up.

At one time, Southern Powersports offered a travel bonus and paid you something per mile to come do business with them. May still have that promotion. Don't know...

Thanks for the replies; the ATV business must be booming. The place in Montgomery is closed on Mondays. Thanks for the 80% figure, Wiley. I'll tell them a guy on aldeer said that was the fair amount.

I'm sorry - if I would have paid more attention to your posts, I could have warned you about them being closed on Monday. I bought mine from them about 5-years ago. I don't know if I got a great deal or not, but it seemed like a pretty good deal at the time (36-month, .99%-interest financing). I bought a 420-Rancher, 2-wheel drive, manual shift, fuel injected that was the previous years stock, bought in 2009 (I believe it is a 2008 model). It has been absolutely terrific - not a single problem. I don't abuse it, but it gets used pretty well during deer and turkey season (we have 26-miles of roads on our lease and I normally drive to the farthest points to get away from other folks). When I have had it serviced - I use Aces High in Montgomery (I assume Johnny is still alive and in business - he had some health problems last time I saw him a couple of years ago).
