I'm no where near a bow expert, I just know how to kill stuff by being persistent, haha. I think I'm getting my son a bow package for his graduation gift this summer. He has never bow hunted so I want things to be easy for him to pick up... Correct me if I'm wrong but, wouldn't a bow with a 33" axle to axle measurement be a little more forgiving than say a 31' or 32" ??? Kinda leaning towards the Stinger g3 right now. Also looking at the Bear attitude, Infinity edge, and Diamond Core. Anything else ya'll can think of to help provide some sweet shooting will be helpful.

Longer axle to axle and a high brace height will make it much easier to pick up. Also make sure his draw length is right for him. Better to be on the short side than long.

Thanks... Actually just finished reading some things on brace height.

The thought that longer axle to axle bows are more accurate isn't necessarily true anymore. Because today's bows are using parallel or beyond parallel limbs, you are able to utilize a longer riser. Riser length is more important than the air between the bow's axles. The one drawback to the shorter axle to axle bows is the string angle. It's steeper, placing the peep further away from your eye. The longer your draw length, the steeper the angle. It can take some getting used to if you've shot longer axle to axle bows most of your life.

The Mathews Q2 is probably my favorite bow. It is 34" axle to axle with a 7.5" brace height. The riser is 23" long. For a long time I was reluctant to own a bow with an axle to axle length less than the Q2's. The Mathews Z7 is right there with the Q2 as my favorite now. It's 30" axle to axle with a 7" brace height. The riser on it is 27.25". I shoot it better than my Q2.

if he has shown some interest in bow hunting and its not just something that you are throwing at him i really think the thing to do would be to tell him the morning after the graduation "cmon son were going to get your graduation present" and just show up at the bow shop and let him shoot a few and let the bow pick him.

Yeah c’mon. Daniel White

Thanks for the comments. After realizing that I've probably seen over 50 bulls during my archery hunts he realized the one week gun season was a waste. Two seasons, zero bulls for him, haha. Archery is the best here, a month long and the rut. No cars/trucks, just boots and bikes.
