Well if Bill Prince from the NRCS is involved any way whatsoever you are screwed. This is by far the dumbest man I have ever met. When I built my dairy, the NRCS did not know what to do or what they couldnt do.. They held me up two years, finnaly had to get Washington involved in it.. I understand the local guys was just doing there job, but the big boys in NRCS are ignorant and want nothing to do with farming....

And for the record I didnt want them involved any way BUT ADEM made me use them. Oh and whatever works in GA, TN, MS and anyother state wont work here according to them. The waste management plans MUST just work in those states.. AND whet worked ten years ago dont work now.... Nothing personal to anyone that works for the NRCS, they are just some dumb engineers and bosses there..

Well let me just say that i KNOW Mr. Prince well and he is retiring in September of 2014.
Not all of the NRCS big boys are ignorant and know nothing about farming it is mainly the engineers. This won't apply to you, Daniel, but on the poultry side Alabama is screwed. According to Alabama law, that was pushed through by ADEM, all dry waste must have a plan basically. Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, South Carolina, Florida, Arkansas - none of those states have the same law that Alabama does that kills us. It would be a big help if ALFA would intervene and get that changed. That would help all of the animal agriculture farmers in the state.
And yes on the side we all think that Bill is working for ADEM or will be as soon as he retires from us.

If it's 4 of the "Mega houses", the 66' x 600' houses, 4 of them will cost around $1M.

66x600 with equipment will run about 315K to 340K depending on what equipment you put inside.

Wasn't nothing towards you I understand you got a job to do and limitations. NRCS is a good thing when implemented right, it really is. But I was a knats hair from losing my whole farm because he wouldnt do his job, and there I was having to make payments on somthing that wasnt running.

I would hate to see what all it would take to open a Pork Operation.. smile

I see people building big chicken houses all the time, but I don't see how they can ever make any money with that kind of cost with all the additional cost associated plus the interest.
