I have never shot a gobbler off of the roost, but we did sky bust some hens one time after legal shooting light on a fall hunt. There were probably between 75 and 100 of them on a hillside roosted and we got a pretty good scatter out of them by picking a couple off the limb to begin with. I think we called 3 or 4 up after that and killed them individually. It was a lot of fun.
I have had a few chances to kill a gobbler off of the limb but have passed up until now. I think if I got one of the birds that gave me fits day after day I might do it now, but I sure do like calling them up. There is one time that I wished and should have done it in the past and I never killed the bird that year. I had the chance to shoot him off of the limb well after legal shooting time and didn't out of respect for him and all he taught me. I had played the game with him 15 or 20 times that year in the same bottom and just couldn't do it. He roosted in the same tree each night, but would often fly to the roost tree from a good distance away and often pitch out and fly a few hundred yards down in the mornings. He was hell to pattern on the ground but would always roost in the same tree.
If it is legal have at it, but I personally wouldn't make a habit of it.

You will shoot hen but won't limb launch one.
How about bushwacking one, you ever do that?
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

He uses a tennis racket or sometimes just calls to them and they just die from the greatness that he is. He is that good. Chuck Norris calls him when he needs back up. Ask him if he uses heavy shot ball bearings in his slingshot setup for field hunts. Mine is not patterning well out past 77 yards.

How about bushwacking one, you ever do that? I used to shoot hens, I haven't in a few years now though. I never said I wouldn;t limb launch one, I just haven't yet. Yes I have bushwacked a few, but if you call once didn't you technically call him in? You had best get your crawling clothes on for NE and KS, especially KS because my motto out there is "why call'em, when you can crawl'em"

Couple years ago, me and Bamaproud got pinned down by a big ol Gobbler. Hen went to nest, about 30 yards from me, Big Longbeard flew up in a pine tree about 30 yards from Bama. I sure was happy that ol boy wasn't in range, for me, cause if I'd been in Bamaproud's hideout I would have been wrestling with my ethics. John never seemed to give it a thought, almost an hour, we sat there motionless. He finally pitched off in the opposite direction and we were both so stove up and numb we couldn't unfold for another 1/2 hour.

Here is a question for ya'll as well. Would you shoot one on a greenfield if he wasn't gobbling and you knew he was just showing up there everyday?? I have done that, more than once. I did call to them, though, just to give 'em a sporting chance.

I have no idea who Michael is or what you are talking about. I remember seeing mister Waddell limb launch one on tv. He did call him up. The turkey limb hopped right over to him.

James (raven ) said it was about time for you to come buy something. You could pick BP up one of those digital hunting weather thingies that shows the barometric pressure and humidity. Couldn't hurt him.:)
