In just about every Continental shoot I've ever been to, there are usually a gazillion dead birds left over that people are not willing to take home. They just want to shoot them but not clean them.

At a lot of shoots, when they order the birds, roughly half will be hens and half will be roosters. They both eat fine.

Buy some good quality high brass 1 1/4 oz shells in #5 or #6.

It doesn't have to be hot enough to smoke all the way to the birds, like a turkey load would be. grin

Most missed shots are from not leading your birds enough. DON"T BE AFRAID TO INCREASE YOUR LEAD quite a bit if you are missing!

After the shoot, hang around jut a little bit and talk with the hosts and get to know them, and you might get invited to hunt the missed birds that got away clean (there will be several) with dogs after everybody else leaves.

Just my 2 cents.

We had about 15 to 20 shooters and 300 birds. I ended up killing 6/7 and knocked down a few that got up and ran. The birds were only flying good over about 4 of the 10 stands. Every time we moved the birds seemed to move a little further in front of us. We had a great time though.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!
