When does the rut usually occur in Dallas County east of Selma? Is now a good time to be out?

I agree with Turkey neck, the 10th on seems the best. Been hunting just South of Old Cahaba for 20 years. As of last weekend, the bucks were still in groups but they were sniffing the does that would come out.

Can anyone report on the activity in Dallas County east of Selma?

I'm planning on being down there next week.

I hunt east of Selma near Tyler. I can't give you a personal report as I've been offshore since the end of Dec. However, I will be there starting the 9th. Guys in my lease say they aren't seeing much buck activity but they aren't as serious as I am. I normally have good luck the week you plan to hunt so you should hit it about right. The full moon is on the 15th so you can expect to see some good action leading up to the full moon in my opinion.

Thanks Squeaky. First timer here. I hunt a few miles from you, activity has been slow on our place, a few small bucks starting to cruise. Keep us posted.

Been in Sardis for 2 days. No rut activity whatsoever. A lot of movement, no chasing though

Really? I watched several bucks from the house Sunday night that were pestering every doe that came across the lil power line in the back yard and they weren't just 2 yr olds doing it.

I'll try to do the same, if I have a signal.

Quick update. So far I've seen two small bucks out cruising and one possible shooter trailing a doe. Only had a spike in bow range so far.

I'll be up there the 14th. I'll be hunting just north of Marion Junction and just west of Selma.

Another up date. I've seen 10 so far with 6 of those bucks. Only one was behind a doe and the others were out cruising. I passed up a 100 to 110" 9 pt with my bow standing 10 steps from base of my tree. I say some rut action is here.
