Bowfool, the problem with your postings is that the gun typical at 182 7/8 is a B&C NET score
the bow typical of Dax is a GROSS score....
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

yup
love or hate net scores, B&C net is really the only score you can use when talking about state and national rankings. When you get outside B&C net and use gross or other scoring systems there are so may variables that you can't really fairly compare one deer to the next.

The current bow record for AL is a 170 net 8- point. Dax's deer netted in the low 160's. Is that one of Mr Mann's deer? Didn't he (or his son) find a pickup (dead) that was in the top three? I had (loaned it) copy of Dennis Campbell's book and sure enjoyed reading it. The last time I knew about it, Richard Kish from Safford had the #2 bow typical (and it was pretty highly ranked as a NT, as best I recall). That still the case?

the 170 is Manns
he has a pickup from Lee that scores 186 and is the record for Al under B&C
Baileys is the record hunter killed at 182 7/8
Campbells original book was measured under B&C. Due to a flap with B&C over (I think) the Melton buck Dennis changed to scoring system to the current system, which I personally don't like. It's a typical or it's a non-typical, ya can't do it both ways.....
Daxs deer is a hell of a deer, just didn't have good side to side symmetry and so the net score was a good bit lower. The Bailey buck netted 20" under it's gross score also.

For years Willie Martin's was the largest killed by a hunter.
It's the most impressive one I've ever seen from the Southeast, has 3 tines over 14" as I remember with mass and beam length to go with it. I think it grosses well over 200"
