My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

There is not a population of wild panthers in Alabama.

I'm not being a smartass I'm just asking why is mountain lions in the harvest guide of DCNR?

Is it their way of being funny? I don't know.

Is the habitat in Florida much different than south Alabama and Georgia?

What is their range?

Certainly if panthers are out there in any numbers we should be able to get pics if we really try. On a side note have y'all ever set a "camera trap" specifically to try and get panther pics?

Me and another member here set up 3 cameras over raw meat. A few large calves had come up dead one supposedly drug over a fence. State folks were investigating a nearby property to see what they found. I am kin to two hunters that left a shot deer overnight on joining property and found it the next day. It was drug between two rocks (best I can describe from the video.) Two folks pulling on it would not remove it and they hooked it to an atv to free it. Of course we did not get any pics or everyone around would know it one way or another. If I recall correctly Wiley had his (find)on Ga Mnt. If that's the case this property is about 12 miles from there.

One thing I know for sure is that a hunting buddy of mine saw a mnt lion in the late 70's at or close to Choccolocco. His coon dogs ran a track until after daylight. He cut them off on a ridge and the cat was several yards ahead of the dogs. He got a good look at it. This guy is the best outdoorsman Ill ever know and one of the few left that if he told me a frog would pull a wagon I would hitch him up.

I won't say that I'm positive that I've seen one. I got a quick look at something getting out of the road one evening where two other guys had seen one earlier in the spring. I have about 3 friends that swear that they saw a large grey colored cat in Perry county. One of my friends who lives there has seen a big tan cat cross the road in front of him one night. His daughter was with him and they love telling the story when they are together. It's funny listening to her excitement every time she talks about it. grin
I believe that they are in Alabama but just not a lot of them. Someone will kill one some day and probably go to jail. It's just a matter of time.

One time I saw Bronco threaten Boone with a boat paddle while wearing his tighty whities. I didn't get pictures but I know what I saw.

The Associated Press, WHNT, WSFA, WKRG, and other media reported on the afternoon of Saturday, December 04, 2010, that Frank Harmes was recovering after being attacked by a panther near his Marshall County home, Alabama. Harmes says he was walking his dog around Greenbriar Cove behind his home near Morgan City when he heard something behind him and turned to see a black panther.

Harmes lives off of Royster Drive near Morgan City. Harmes says he moved to try to scare the panther away, but instead it attacked, ripped his pants, and clawed his leg. He says he stabbed the animal twice with a knife and it ran away. He reports the attack took place on Wednesday.

Residents of the area near near Union Grove have reported seeing the melanistic mystery cats in the past, saying they sometimes come out looking for food. Harmes says he will undergo a series of rabies shots because of the attack.

Marshall County is a county of the U.S. state of Alabama, and is included in the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. Its name is in honor of John Marshall, famous Chief Justice of the United States. As of 2000 the population was 82,231. Its county seat is Guntersville.
Marshall County is a dry county, with the exception of three cities within the county, Albertville, Arab, and Guntersville. Marshall County is home to numerous outdoor recreation areas including Lake Guntersville State Park, Cathedral Caverns State Park, and Buck’s Pocket State Park.

I personally have had two other panther experiences here in Alabama. One was just last year..I just hate to say anything and listen to all the people who dont believe it scoffing.
The one last year was in broad daylight..scared 13 deer out of a powerline food plot and crossed the powerline 50 yards from me. IT WAS A COUGAR..around 90-110 pounds long tail..hunting deer.

You cant shoot the dang things but I definitely had it in my muzzleloader sights the entire time.

My wife came to pick me up as I had walked in over a mile to keep the wind in my favor thru my buddies property. 20 minutes after dark I was still in the stand and she was worried something had happened to me. I was just scared to come down to be honest!

To walk out I had to go right near where it went. Also, it had made a dang scream just as it got dark not 100 yards away...and another answered behind me in the same pine thicket deer bedding area the first one had come from. I had to go btween both to walk out. Im a pretty brave guy but with just a muzzleloader I was scared to death. I had a little AA battery flashlight..and I never was so worried coming out of the woods. When I could see her lights I had her point them towards me and ran like a girl to the dang truck.

until someone shoots one of these mystery lions ans a news reporter makes a story by it. i don't think we have wild big cats in Alabama i think the dcnr is right they do not live in these parts .even though i worked with a guy on red stone that swears he has em in his woods i asked how come your cows don't come up missing the big cat got to eat they don't get big by not eating.if you say you saw one with your own eye and was not drunk. i believe you. i do think you had rather shoot a bear in ALABAMA than a big cat,it could get real expensive doing that
