I remember the day daddy took that photo. We was investigating a drug drop when daddy spotted that cat trying to get the package out the tree. Daddy was in law enforcement.

I bet Steve lives near the T'bee River. Jus'guessin'!

I'm guessing he didn't shoot it. I hope not.

I know a man that saw a panther about three months ago off the T'bee River. I'm not calling names but I believe him and he was 100% sure of what he saw at 40 yards!

on the serious note. Ive never said anything about big cats in alabama...but I surely believe they live here.

My wife and I both saw one cross the road in front of our truck when driving to our land a few years ago. I almost ran the sob over..it was less then 10 yards from the truck.

I know big cats..I filmed them dying in North Dakota. I also know their tracks well..as we would find tracks in the snow...and set dogs on them tree them and Id film them being shot.

I also filmed one in Florida about eleven years ago as he came out of some thicket right along the Florida turnpike and ambushed five jakes that had come into my calling. SOB almost had them too..he leaped in the air as they flew off and missed the last one by inches!

I also filmed them in the rockies when hunting in Wyoming.

My wife got real concerned as on our land right in front of one of my treestands ..in the mud there were tracks..no claws...just pads..going both ways up the mountain into the cliffs.

Also..the holla I hunt is called DEMBO holler....the holler next over is called CRY BABY holler...they say for the sound of the cougars at night sounding like babies crying in the night.

We have big cliffs...lots of caves and rocky ledges on the top of the mountain.

I never wanted to get in a pissing contest over it..but I know what I saw was SURELY a mountain lion. Of that I have NO DOUBT!

The panthers are like "cow tipping" Everyone always has a "friend" who did it or saw it. Neither exist in Bama.

I believe that people "think" they have seen one. I think it's mistaken identity.

I'll say it again.

There are an estimated 100+ panthers in Florida. Yet, there are hundreds of trail cam pictures "Great Quality Photos" taken yearly. There are also, around 10 hit and killed every year.

-How many good pictures are there of panthers in Alabama-NONE
-How many get hit and killed on the road here every year-NONE

There is not a population of wild panthers in Alabama.

LOL

I guess so, Bartman......

He lives in FL and hunts in an area KNOWN to hold the big cats. I just wanted to see how many people would see house cats, big bobcats, and photoshops.
Interestingly enough, even though Steve is in his 40's and has lived and hunted the same area his entire life; this is the FIRST panther he has ever seen or gotten a pic of! So, the old "If they exist, there should be pics" argument is not all that true!

I have hunted in Alabama for.... lol... years and always close to either the Alabama or Tombigbee Rivers and I have never seen one. However, I have talked to two credible people that I trust that saw one each at close range and they both have been within one mile of the Tombigbee River.

When I hear of "black" panthers, then credibility goes out the window as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, animals move many miles. I guess I believe in panthers... and for that matter, ghost!

I think we should go big cat hunting with trail cams. Lets have an aldeer contest for getting a picture in Alabama. Put out "scent" traps, using some kind of feline scent. Or some kind of meat bait. According to outdoor Alabama there are less than 50 black bears in south Alabama, and yall get pics all the time. Certainly if panthers are out there in any numbers we should be able to get pics if we really try. On a side note have y'all ever set a "camera trap" specifically to try and get panther pics?
