Knowledgable individual for sure, that came up with this. Talk about being liable for preventing a kid from playing football, this might be the ultimate. The NCAA wouldn't last very long. Emmert is a real genius.

It tells me that as long as you claim ignorance, an athlete can have family or friends do all the back door campaigning for them and not suffer the consequences.

Tider, you are right, and it can go the other way.

I think if they can prove uncle Nate took something, whether JM knew about it or not, that'll be the difference. That's what the NCAA couldn't do in Cam's case.

I don't see how a college age kid could be responsible for what a crazy relative does. And what does he do if he finds out? (especially in recruiting)

He was on the payroll to be JM's handler/agent by the family.

He goes to another school just like Cam did. I firmly believe Cam was gonna go to Miss St. until the booster there offered money to his dad. After that happened Cam knew that if he went there he would likely be ruled ineligible. Thats where "the money was just too much" quote came from. Auburn never had anything to do with it and didn't have a prayer of signing him until that happened. Thanks Kenny Rogers

Cam's dad asked for money from Miss State. The dude admitted it to the NCAA.

Now back on topic.........

The original broker said Johnny signed 300 items for $7500.

$7500 x 300 sigs = $25 per signature.

$25 x 4400 = $110,000

Pretty good money for a couple hours work.

No I think what he admitted to was entertaining the offer MSU made to him. He talked about taking it and probably would have had they secured the money. I don't think he went to Starkville asking for money though. No one except Meyer and Mullen knew what skills he had. Heck Chizik didn't even want to sign him.

You might be right. Admittedly I didn't follow it as closely as I did the football aspect of things that season. I just was repeating what I heard on other boards and that info is frequently wrong. I didn't obsess over Cam like others did.

A simple google search will pull up many, many articles which state that Cecil admitted to asking for the money, and that no official at MSU ever made an offer...that's straight from Cecil himself.

Y'all's attempts to make it look like Cecil Newton did the right thing up front and is a man of integrity is comical.
